Hair Transplantation

A hair transplant procedure is a surgical technique designed to address hair loss, particularly male pattern baldness. This procedure involves extracting hair follicles from a donor area, usually located at the back of the head, and transplanting them into areas of the scalp with thinning or bald patches. Hair transplantation can also be utilized for restoring hair in other areas like eyebrows, eyelashes, beard, chest, and pubic region. Unlike skin grafting, hair transplantation involves transferring grafts that encompass the entire epidermis and dermis surrounding the hair follicle, with multiple small grafts being transplanted instead of a single strip of skin.

Hair Transplantation

Two primary methods are employed for harvesting donor hair: strip harvesting (FUT) and follicular unit extraction (FUE). Strip harvesting involves removing a strip of scalp containing hair follicles, which is then dissected into small grafts for transplantation. FUE harvesting, on the other hand, involves extracting individual follicular units containing 1 to 4 hairs using tiny punches ranging from 0.6 mm to 1.0 mm in diameter. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia, with the option of mild sedation. Hair transplant surgery is typically an outpatient procedure conducted in specialized clinics or hospital settings. The cost of the procedure varies based on the extent of hair loss and the number of grafts required. Temporary hair thinning, known as "shock loss," is a common side effect of hair transplant surgery.


Various techniques are employed in hair transplantation:

FUE Technology:

FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is a method used in hair transplantation that involves extracting individual follicular units from the scalp in a random pattern and implanting them elsewhere on the scalp. It is less invasive and less painful than FUT, with a faster recovery time. FUE can be performed manually or with robotic technology. Sapphire FUE is a newer technique that utilizes sapphire blades for extraction. It is a popular and effective option, with the procedure taking about 6-8 hours and up to 4000 hair follicles being transplanted.

Mega FUE Technology:

Mega FUE technology involves the extraction and transplantation of a high number of follicular units, typically performed over multiple sessions. It can transplant up to 8000 follicles in two days. Mega FUE is similar to traditional FUE, but with a larger number of follicular units transplanted in a single session. This technique is beneficial for individuals requiring a significant number of grafts in one session.

Final FUE:

Final FUE is a variation of FUE that utilizes a medical scalpel made of fine blue sapphire, minimizing scalp damage during the collection process.

DHI Technology:

DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) is a hair transplant technique similar to FUE, where individual hair follicles are extracted from the donor area and directly implanted into the recipient area using a specialized tool called a Choi implanter pen. This technique offers greater precision and results in less trauma to the scalp, shorter recovery time, and higher survival rate for transplanted hair follicles. DHI is favored by those seeking a natural-looking and minimally invasive hair restoration solution.

Mega DHI Technology:

Mega DHI Technology utilizes the Choi Implanter Pen, like DHI, but allows for the transplantation of a larger number of follicles in a single session.
